Directions to Hailsham for the Community College Pitch

The following directions make use of the MultiMap Service to assist you.

Hailsham is 9 miles North of Eastbourne on the A22 in Sussex. It's main access is via the A22.


If travelling South from London then proceed along the A22 following directions for Eastbourne to Hailsham which is 9 miles north of Eastbourne.

If travelling from West Sussex then proceed along the A27 towards Polegate and turn onto the A22 signposted London. Hailsham is 4 miles North of Polegate, just off the A22

Hailsham Community College just off the town centre in Battle Road.
From the A22 follow signs for Hailsham Town Centre and then Hailsham Community College.

Notable local landmarks include the Grenadier Public House. The traffic lights outside the pub are at the end of Battle Road, and hence the Community College. Entrance to the College is opposite Battle Crescent


Community College Pitch Access

Access to the Community College is via the gates furthest from the traffic lights almost opposite Battle Crescent.

Parking is around the sports hall which overlooks the pitch.

Entry to the pitch is usually via the steps half way along the pitch.

Directions to St Bedes

Hailsham is 9 miles North of Eastbourne on the A22 in Sussex. It's main access is via the A22.

If travelling South from London then proceed along the A22 following directions for Eastbourne to Hailsham which is 9 miles north of Eastbourne. Before you reach the Boship Hotel is a kitchen showroom on the right hand side of the road by the turning to Upper Dicker. Take this turning travelling all the way through the village until you reach a set of pedestrian lights by St Bedes school. Take the left turning towards Arlington and then after 100m turn left into the school by the tennis courts.

If travelling from West Sussex then proceed along the A27 towards Polegate and turn onto the A22 sign posted London. St Bedes is at The Dicker 5 miles North West of Polegate. Turn off the A22 at the Arlington turn off towards Arlington Speedway and Michelham Priory and head along this road all the way to the end to The Dicker. St Bedes is on the right just after the primary school. Take the first entrance into the school.

St Bedes is near Michelham Priory, The Plough Pub, and not far from Arlington Speedway.


St Bedes Pitch Access

To access the pitch drive through the school turning to the right towards the swimming pool, then head around the back of the pool to park by the pitch.

Directions to The George Hotel


The George Hotel is Hailsham Hockey Clubs HQ from July 2006. It is a 2 minute drive or a 5 minute walk from the pitch.

The landlord very kindly lets us make use of the function room or restaurant exclusively for our use. Please respect his hospitality by changing out of your playing gear after the game. Showers and changing are available at the pitch.

Please note that we pay for the teas at the George, so please let us know 5 days in advance if you will not be staying for teas.

Leave the Community College pitch and turn right along Battle Road. At the end of Battle Road (by the lights) turn left along the High Street. Travel along High Street until you reach a right fork into George Street. The George is on your left 100m from the junction. To park, travel past the George turning left just before the Police Station. Park either on the street or in the Car Park to the left.
