HAILSHAM HOCKEY CLUB NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2000
NEWS UPDATE
The 2000/2001 hockey season is fast approaching. This new season will see the introduction of Mens 2nd XI playing in the Sussex Open League Division Four. Mens and Ladies home matches will be played at Park College Astro, Kings Drive, Eastbourne with Bexhill College Astro being used as the back up pitch if required. Mixed Home matches will continue to be played at Beresford Astro, Eastbourne. Teas will be at ‘The Counting House’, Eastbourne.
With regard to Club Officer changes for this season Henry Drake is the Mens 2nd XI Captain, Neil Phillips is the Mixed Captain (Mens). Annual subscriptions remain at the same rate as last season. Match fees for the Mens team are £5, Students £3, Juniors (u16) £2.
At this juncture it is appropriate to acknowledge continuing financial support from Cooper, Carter, Claremont (Solicitors) and a further grant from Hailsham Town Council along with Hailsham Cage Bird Society for donating the trophies for the Most Improved Player for the Mens and Ladies teams and advertising in the Fixture Card. Similar thanks for advertising are due to Park College, Eastbourne and Traffers Bar, Egerton Road, Bexhill on Sea.

The club is keen to distribute information via email where possible. So if you have an email address please notify Martin Headey.
SHIRTS
New sets of shirts have been ordered for the Mens 2nd XI and the Mixed XI. Numbering for the Mens teams will be from 2 to 16 and 17 to 31. The Mixed shirts will be numbered from 32 to 48. A numbered squad system is to be introduced on the basis of shirt size rather than club position. A squad numbered shirt will be issued to players on payment of a £10 refundable deposit. A certain number of shirts will be retained by the Mens 1st XI and 2nd XI in order to kit out occasional players.
NSPCC CHARITY MATCHES
In order to provide two friendly matches for the newly formed Mens 2nd XI two charity matches have been organised against a South Saxons XI. These matches will take place on:
Sunday 10 September 2000 at 11am at Horntye Ground, Hastings
Sunday 17 September 2000 at 11am at Bexhill College Astro, Turkey Road, Bexhill on Sea
Refreshments afterwards at Traffers Bar on 17 September 2000.
Both these matches will be played in aid of the NSPCC. Players will pay £5 per match which shall raise a minimum of £110 per game. The home team will deduct pitch hire and tea fees and the remainder of the total from both games will be donated to NSPCC funds.
