Semi Final of the Vase Knockout Competition Sunday 8th April
Hailsham Ladies tore up the form book and booked themselves a place in the final with a brilliant display of penetrative hockey. This season Horsham 3rds have done the double over Hailsham but in this semi final encounter Hailsham dominated from start to finish.
More decisive in the tackle and more direct going forward Hailsham were always in control. Helen Major gave them the lead they deserved in the first half whilst Alison Headey took tight control of the midfield and Julie Brown effectively marshalled the defence.
After the break Hailsham might have expected Horsham to really come at them but the home side continued to play a measured passing game that was often pretty but never destined to disturb a confident, hard running Hailsham side.
Hailsham entered the comfort zone in the second half when Teri Archer made it 2 -0 and at the final whistle a jubilant ladies side were celebrating a brilliant victory and a place in the final on May 13th.
