Match Report - 23-Sept-2000

Hailsham Ladies 3 v East Grinstead 2nds 0

Triumphant Start for Hailsham Ladies

Newly promoted Hailsham Ladies swept to an emphatic 3 - 0 win against East Grinstead in their opening fixture in Divison 2.

The game was a personal triumph for Jo Edwards who struck a brilliant hat trick but skipper Mary Major was equally impressed by the all round commitment and composure of this talented ladies side.

Helen Brian Davis made a welcome return to the side after a lengthy lay off last season and Alison Headey was a controlling presence in midfield throughout a match that the home side always looked like winning.

The closest EG came to a goal was when they wastefully squandered a penalty flick in the second half and after a well struck shot was cleared off the goal line a few minutes later by Mary Major there were few alarms for a justifiably happy Hailsham outfit.

Ladies Season 2000-01

MENS Friendly Fixture - A South Saxons XI 0 v A Hailsham XI 3

Hailsham mens prepared well for next week's league opener with a stylish 3 - 0 win against South Saxons. The goalscorers were Ben Stiles, Don Patterson and Simon Barden. Next week Hailsham begin their campaign against Penguins 3rds at Park College.

Mixed County Championships - Worthing

Hailsham played an important role in a very strong pool at the County Championships.

Drawn with Chichester, Chi Hospitals and Mid Sussex, Hailsham faced some very tough games.

In the opener with Chi Hospitals, a solitary goal from Neil Phillips secured a win.

In the fast paced game with Mid Sussex, an unfortunate mistake in defence resulted in the ball dribbling over the goal line.
With Hailsham having a goal disallowed, the score remained 1-0 against.

In the final game against Chichester, Chi knew they had to win to qualify instead of Mid Sussex.
Hailsham played with dogged determination and despite one scare when the ball hit the post they did not look like giving the game away. Final score 0-0.
