NEWS UPDATE
The 2001/2002 hockey season is fast approaching. This season 2002 will be the Centenary of the Club and will also see hockey being played on Astroturf in Hailsham for the first time ever. It also welcomes the return of the Club to its hometown after nearly ten years exile. All very good reasons for celebration.
The Centenary Dinner will mark those celebrations at The Boship Farm Hotel on Saturday 13th April 2002. We are hoping for a memorable attendance of past and present players, officials, vice presidents et al on this landmark night for the Club. Please remember to put the date in your diary.
Tickets priced at £25 will be available in the New Year.In addition it is proposed to sell special edition Centenary Polo Shirts and Sweat Shirts priced between £12 and £15 and orders for these will be taken at the start of the season.
On the playing front home matches will be played at Hailsham Community College. Battle Road, Hailsham. Teas will be provided at Hellingly Hospital Sports and Social Club. We are negotiating Membership fees with the Club, which will probably be around £8 for 16 months, but remember the beer is cheaper.
With regard Club Officer changes Dave Hathaway is now the Mixed Captain (Mens). Annual Subscriptions remain at the same rate as last season. Match fees for the Mens teams are £5, Students £3, Juniors (u16) £2.
At this juncture it is appropriate to acknowledge continuing financial support via the fixture card from Cooper, Carter, Claremont (Solicitors), Hailsham Cage Bird Society, and Traffers Bar, Egerton Road, Bexhill on Sea. Thanks are also due to Traffers Bar for donating the Player of the Year Shield for the 2nd XI.
NEW PLAYERS
New players are always welcome to the club and hopefully now we are back in Hailsham we can actively encourage some new talent from the town and surrounding area. So promote the club wherever you can. If you know of any interested players please inform Captains Richard Bishop, Henry Drake or Mary Major.
This year we are hoping to start Training Sessions hopefully on Wednesday evenings at Hailsham Community College from 7.30 to 9.00pm. Fee £1 per session. This will give us a great opportunity to get fit, practice skills and teamwork and introduce new players to the club. Training starting date will hopefully be mid September subject to the completion of the new Hailsham pitch.
