In a thrilling game, Eastbourne regained the John Hall trophy from Hailsham
With Hailsham taking an early lead, Eastbourne worked hard and after twenty minutes found themselves 2-1 ahead. Hailsham full back Jim Major then suffered an injury and was unable to continue. With 10 minutes to go until half time, Eastbourne swamped Hailsham taking a 5-1 lead to the interval.
Eastbourne kindly gave Hailsham a player to replace the injured Major, and the game once more became an even contest.
Hailsham with dogged determination clawed back at the lead, and with 2 minutes to go reduced the defect to a single goal. Despite desperate attempts to score, a friendly but hard fought contest saw Eastbourne the victors at 5-4.
